The SRX Series: Electric Spring Return Actuators

Spring Return Electric Actuators are used in critical processes to return quarter-turn valves to their safe position even with the absence of power.
These will be available at the end of February 2020 in 300, 600, 1,200 and 1,800 inch-pound units in both on/off and modulating. Additionally, other sizes are being developed to meet your needs.

A-T Controls has added a
three-plate attenuator as an option to our Segment Control valve line.

The attenuator is designed to break pressure drop down to lower the pressure recovery of the control valve.

This allows the valve to operate in higher pressure drop applications to help prevent cavitation and reduce noise production from the valve. The design lets the valve maintain its shutoff rating as well as maintain an equal percent flow characteristic. It is available in VS, VM and VV series segment control valve.

Making it clear – the water quality standards of NSF/ANSI 61 and 372

To make the products safe for water distribution there must be protective

barrier material, joining, and sealing materials. These materials will ensure
that the water remains free from any contaminates that may be present on
or in the metal, paint, gaskets, lubricants, etc.
NSF/ANSI has two standards, NSF 61 and NSF 372. These standards ensure that the product meets the requirements to manufacture, sell or distribute water in North America.

The white paper can be found under "Water Service" on the Applications page of our website.

Molly found a collection of A-T's alloy options:  Alloy 20, Hastelloy C-276, and Monel trim. If you've ever seen our valves without the traditional blue handle, this is why.

Alloy 20 - Sometimes also known as Carpenter 20 or 20Cb-3, Alloy 20 is an austenitic stainless steel that is best known for its resistance to sulfuric acid (H2SO4) over other 316 stainless steel. Alloy 20 valves are in stock for three-piece valves (Series 88A) and Class 150 flanged (Series 90A) and can be identified by their red handle sleeves.

Hastelloy C-276 - This alloy is known for its resistance to sulfuric acid (H2SO4), hydrochloric acid (HCl), phosphoric acid (H3PO4), chlorine (Cl2), wet chlorine, and other aggressive compounds. Series 88T and Series 90T valves include TFM™-1600 seals standard. Hastelloy C-276 valves are in stock for three-piece valves (Series 88T) and Class 150 flanged (Series 90T) and can be identified by their black handle sleeves.

Monel - Monel 400 is a material that used in high velocity oxygen (O2) applications, marine applications, and many more industrial applications. Monel trim options (balls and stems) are in stock and available for Series 88 and Series D9-F1/D9-F3 valves.

(Other specialty alloys, including Super Duplex, are also available.)
This past week, A-T participated in the 2020 Unified Wine and Grape Symposium in Sacramento, California. This year it was held at the Cal Expo while the new convention center is being built. Folks were concerned the move would hurt the attendance, but it turned out to be the best Wine and Grape Expo ever!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by!

Complete cooling tower valve upgrade in just two weeks – with the help of A-T Controls P1 Series High Performance Butterfly Valves
What made this project a great success was local plant engineering combined with knowledgeable A-T distribution that addressed root causes of repeated failures. This steel mill customer worked with A-T to replace existing valves that were not achieving full shutoff due to pre-mature valve wear. In total, there were three 16" valves and one 20" valve on the pump side of the tower.
